Current Diet

I’ve been watching a lot of Naruto lately, great show. Would recommend watching for any anime fans. Never watched it past the part where Sauske runs away because he’s jealous of his boyfriend Naruto becoming so strong.

Anyways, for my current diet, I’m currently playing around with my calories a little bit right now. I had changed my working out to be more strength based and lifting heavier weights with lower repetitions. It was thee strength building program by Dr. Mike Israetel through Renaissance Periozidation. It’s a completely free program on YouTube, so check it out.  Now I’m back to a 5-6 days hypertrophy program.

My body needed less calories as I found out when I was on the strength program. I’ve gained 4-5 pounds throughout the last 4ish months while on the program, but that’s ok. My workouts weren’t as intense on the strength regimen, so my body needed less calories. Anyways, I’ll go through the foods that I’m eating now.

Also, I realize there are healthier options which I go through some better alternatives. This is just what I eat of now because I really enjoy it. I’m not forcing myself to eat any of this. It makes me feel good and it’s convenient, also, it doesn’t break the bank. For reference, my body weight is around 200 lbs right now.

Breakfast

Egg whites, plain fat free greek yogurt and a banana are what I’ve been eating for the past few months. I might add half a cup of oats to this to get some more healthy carbs and maybe half an avocado to get some healthy fats. I’ll have to play around with it. Alternative foods I’ve ate in the past along with my egg whites are, Kellogg cinnamon protein cereal along with golden grahams and one serving of almond milk.

Lunch

For the past few months, I’ve been having grilled cheese. I make this with 2 slices of the whole grain bread from ALDI, then I add 56 grams of mozzarella cheese to it. I also put 14 grams of salt free butter on the two slices of bread (7 grams on each slice). I do sometimes use fat free mozzarella cheese when I need to lower the calories a little. I’ll eat this with 28 grams of barbecue kettle chips (a better alternative to this would be smart pop popcorn which I do sometimes). Total of 24 g of protein for 600 calories. If substituted with fat free mozzarella cheese and smart pop popcorn: Total of 31 g of protein for 480 calories.

Dinner

6 ounces of chicken breast with either a cup of basmati rice or 2 serving of instant mashed potatoes. There’s a few different recipes for the chicken breast I use, I’ll upload those recipes one day. I’ll have vegetable with this too. That’s a lot of chicken breast, I know. It equates to around 53 grams of protein for just the chicken. With that, the rice or mashed potatoes add roughly another 5 grams of protein. Total protein is ~58-g of protein.

Snacks

Gatorade protein bar + light peach greek yogurt. Total protein: 33 g for 430 calories. Now is the lowest calorie protein bar? Absolutely not, you can get lower calorie protein bars. I just like this one because is cheaper and tastes really good; it does have a lot of sugar in it. Also, I could just be doing the plain fat free greek yogurt for less calories and more protein; the light peach greek yogurt comes in a cup so it’s more convenient for work.

Before bed snack: Six star chocolate Casein Protein shake: 24 g of protein for 140 calories. Yes, there are more options of casein protein that are less calories for about the same protein. I just happened to order it because it was on sale, no big deal. On top of this I’ll eat a serving of corn flakes (40 g) with a serving of almond milk (240 ml): This is a total of 170 calories and 3 grams of protein. Total for this snack is 27 g of protein and 310 calories. An alternative you can do for this if you like cereal is Kellogg cinnamon protein cereal, for about 70 more calories, you’d get 12 more grams of protein.

So for these, the total are as follow: Roughly 198 g of protein and 2236 calories. On top of this, I eat about 300-500 calories of other things I may want. This can include anything really. I tend to change my before bed snack around sometimes, but the other meals, I’ve been doing them for a few months at least. I also drink a Pepsi 0 16.9 fluid ounces (500 ml) bottle some days). Thinking of starting a recipe section too! Look forward to that!

It’s all about finding foods that you love and making the healthy! It’s not just plain chicken and white rice for every meal. Thought, I personally love chicken and rice.
