Best time to workout? Best time to workout for weight loss? When is the best time to workout to gain muscle? Best time to workout for student? Or best time to workout for women?
So many questions I see. You’ll be blown away at how simple the answer is! Stay tuned!
I just ate an entire BBQ chicken pizza. Oh well though, gotta enjoy yourself a little bit, right? Anyone? No, just me? Guess I’m the only loser. There’s no one to respond as I type this all alone in my room. That makes me sound like an even bigger loser. You know what though, my mom think I’m handsome, so I’m special!
I should probably touch on what we’re supposed to be talking about. What is the best time to exercise to lose belly fat? Is it better to exercise on an empty stomach? So many questions.
What I will say is, not everyone is the same. Ideally, you should eat before you workout so you have energy, yes. Does doing cardio on an empty stomach burn more fat? Possibly.
Let’s starting answering these questions!
EVERYTHING About the Best Time To Workout
If you want the simple answer, the best time to workout is whenever you like to or can. Everyone is busy and life is always in the way. Any exercising is better than none. Best time to workout, morning or evening? Totally up to you and when you can.
There are people at the gym who are in AMAZING shape at all hours of the day. It’s not like there’s all the fit people at the gym in the morning and then everyone the rest of the day is morbidly obese or vice versa.
Lets start answering some specific questions.
1. Working Out Fasted (weightlifting)
Is it better to workout on an empty stomach? Now, ideally, you should get in some sort of food about an hour before you workout just so you have energy. However, what if you can’t do that?
Guess what, I can’t. I work multiple 12 hour shift in a row and have to sleep. I basically wake up and go right to the gym. That’s the only time I can go.
If I worried about things such as, I didn’t eat before coming and getting in a lifting session, I’d never exercise when I had work.
One of the benefits of working morning exercise before breakfast for me is, it wakes me up and gets be ready for the day. If I don’t workout, I feel all sluggish and it takes me time to get going. I don’t even feel hungry when I workout before work, my body is used to it.
So if it’s the only time you can go, that’s fine.
Just make sure to eat after. Your body will be hungry for nutrients. A good breakfast will prevent you from feeling like you’re starving until your next meal.
You can build muscle working out at any time of the day. You’re not trying to be professional bodybuilder, now if you are, then it might. You most likely don’t need to worry about that if you’re a beginner.
2. Fasted Cardio Will Burn Fat
I’ve heard this before. If you workout on an empty stomach, your cardio will burn the fat instead of food you ate, if you have gone after eating.
At the end of the day, it DOESN’T MATTER (The Rock voice). What if you need to eat so you can push harder in your cardio session to burn more calories? Maybe if you’re fasted, you feel all sluggish during your cardio session and can’t push as hard.
I don’t mind doing fasted cardio, but everyone is different.
Just do the cardio whenever you can, stop OVERCOMPLICATING it!
At the end of the day, it all depend on if you’re in a caloric deficit (eating less calories than your body needs) to lose weight. Even better, you should be trying to lose fat instead of any form of weight.
You want to conserve muscle, the more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn by just existing. Try to aim to eat 1 gram (g) of protein per pound (lbs) of body weight per day!
3. Best Time To Workout For Women and/or Students
Whenever you like to or whenever you can. Listen women, you are special and cooler than us men, but you don’t NEED to workout at a specific time. Does it matter what time of day you exercise? No! When is the latest you should workout? Totally up to you. Go whenever you can.
Students, I remember being a student…man, rough times. Pharmacy school was lots of fun….not. I do miss being around my friends all the time though.
Just go when you can. That’s it. End of discussion. There is no ideal time, for every single person.
4. Calculating Calories
As I mentioned before, the biggest factor that dictated whether you lose or gain weight is your calories. If you want to lose weight, you have to be eating less calories than your body needs. If you want to gain weight, you must eat more calories than your body needs.
I seem to be really good at the eating more calories than my body needs part. I gain weight like it’s no ones business.
To make your life easier, approach this in a methodical way and calculate how many calories you needs. My article EVERYTHING About Calculating Calories will tell you everything you need to know to get started with that!
Welp, as you beautiful people can see there is no best time to exercise to lose weight for everyone! Does it matter what time of day you exercise if you’re trying to stay in shape? Possibly. What’s most important though, is actually working out! Just make sure to get it in!
This was all about the best time to workout!
